New anti speed camera spray
A new product that has become readily available on the high street has been at the centre of controversy this week. The product that is manufactured by a company called Flashtec based in Essex is designed to be applied to a motorist's number plate. The spray coats the number plate with a film that is claimed will help the motorist to avoid being caught speeding by speed cameras.
The coating works by reflecting the flash from a camera and therefore basically blinding the camera revealing a blank number plate when the picture is processed. This means that the police cannot follow up the incident by issuing a fine and penalty points because they do not have enough information about the car. This means that a motorist will not be penalised by penalty points and a price increase in their car insurance premium.
The problem lies in the fact that it is illegal to use this product and a driver can be facing fines of up to £1000 for use of the Flashtec spray. So even though it may seem like a good idea to help prevent those speeding fines, penalty points and an increase in car insurance think carefully before coating that number plate.
