The research was conducted in Western Australia, where the BMJ studied the details and stats of 456 drivers who had been hospitalized between 2002 and 2004. The results clearly showed a link between motorist using they phone and accidents, as the study found that mobile phone use in the ten minutes prior to a crash increased the risk an accident.
