Cheaper Womens Car Insurance

In this first article, we'd like to discuss why womens car insurance tends to be cheaper than mens car insurance.

One of the main reasons that womens car insurance is cheaper than mens, is that their claims tends to cost less than their male equivalents. Admittedly women do tend to have more accidents, but they're generally fairly minor affairs, a knock in a car park or a collision at a mini roundabout. Men don't make as many claims on their car insurance, when they do, they tend to do it properly, writing off their own car and sometimes other peoples vehicles and property.

The main difference comes down to the fact that womens claims are the result of them not paying attention or not being able to see well enough out their back window. Men on the other hand tend to have accidents while they are concentrating on driving faster and faster and then lose control.

The insurance industry was recently challenged in the european courts by a group of people claiming that loading mens car insurance premiums was sexual discrimation, however, the case appears to have been settled in favour of the insurance companies(for now). The fact of the matter is that mens claims cost more and they should therefore pay more, the problem is there are good and bad drivers in both camps, how do you distringuish between the two.

Perhaps a new system should be introduced to more accurately assess the risk that each driver poses, males who have no penalty points, no accidents and a full no claims bonus should not be penalised just because they're male.

In the next part of this series, we're going to discuss what methods can be employed to more accurately assess who is a high risk and who is not.
