Cheap motor insurer takes a drive on the not-so wild side.
Commin sense. Its sumfink you've either got, or ya havant really. Ya carnt be teached it, 'cos its only for dead intellijant peeps yeah? Thankfully, dead intelligent people (or, as they're known in these parts - cheap motor insurers) seem to be staying alive down country lanes these days; whereas incredible stupid people and straying livestock, are not. Becoming deader than the proverbial barn doornail. And this, school-attending cheap motor insurers, is all because the national speed limit (currently set at 60mph) is considered too extreme for certain rural areas. Such as high-hedge-rowed single lane tracks, steeply gradiented canal bridges and the deep end of fords. Places where you generally cant see over not-so hidden dangers. An insurance company (motoring, yes, cheap insuring, no) that spends every day like a school holiday (e.g., kicking their heels, bored of face) have pulled over long enough to ask some people in the country lanes their cockeyed views on the law. The driving law anyway. What townies call the Highway Code; and whether or not they think that the speed limit in predominantly green areas should be lowered. To say 40 mph. 75% of them strongly agreed. (we can't determine at this stage how many of them were cheap motor insurers, or not) They didn't know what they were agreeing to due to the townies dialect being so different to their own vocal delivery, but they ticked boxes to provide written clues; and partial evidence. Another page of mixed ability questions with multiple choice answers threw up this poser for the half-bothered survey-takers. 'Do you think the driving test should include special tuition on driving in rural areas?' A. Yes. B. No. C. Don't know. 4. Don't understand the question. H. Pass. The majority left their marker in box A.
The insurer, who earlier in the week become tired of playing board games and I-Spy with fellow employees, put their idle time to better use and found out that some 64% of fatalities on the road were acted out in rural areas,. And of those, many were attributed to speeding. To think, if only their phone lines were a quarter busy as ours, then they might never have looked into this matter. Thing which I find difficult to understand in all of this, is how? How can you sustain much above 40 mph in such locations? Have you ever tried hitting a cattle grid at 60 mph? It rips your suspension clean off. It also pushes your vertebrae into your head. It's all to do with common sense as I pointed out earlier. Drive within the limitations of your surround. If your surround changes, adapt your driving style accordingly. If it doesn't surround, then chances are you haven't pulled off your driveway yet. Having paid her money for not having to wear uniform, a spokeswoman for this particular insurer believed she was entitled to speak up. This is what she said; "We're calling on the government to reduce the speed limit to 40mph, as we feel the current speed limit is too fast for narrow rural lanes." And thick people have to be informed of this. For those of you who did pass your 11+, then you might well want to join our class of high achievers.
