It's a truly amazing motoring world in which we live. Cars can come in all guises these days. There are cars you can't steer, cars that keep accelerating when you've removed your foot from the pedal, and cars that may very well - just burst into flames without notice. Splendid. I could go on, but I'm attempting to master the art of short, bite-size articles for the short of attention span amongst you. Five innovative and avant-garde manufacturers, and Vauxhall, have launched safety-related recalls. Followed by major enquiries and extended leaves for employees to tend to their gardens no doubt, in light of these previously undetected shockers. Of which the aforementioned triumvirate are not isolated incidents. These six household names, well garage anyway, are desperately trying to contact the registered keepers of their mass produced cars with bribes, sorry, offers, of free checks and repairs.
So, Insureyourmotor.co.uk asks just who has not been doing what? A right mix up of metaphors leads to the following accusations;
The Nissan Navara built between May and December 2005 displays potentially faulty bearings on the rear axle of some 5812 of its grotesque pick-ups that are innocently tootling around between building supplier's trade counters and ripped-off customer's driveways. Which could, in dangerous instances, cause wheels to detach from the axle. And imminent death to the driver and a selection of gnomes.
Elsewhere Vauxhalls popular pestilence - the Astra - well, the ones still going that were constructed more shoddily than even Insureyourmotor.co.uk could begin to imagine, between January 2005 and February of this year; have problems with their steering assembly. 2510 Astra's steering assemblies could work their way loose from the Selotape holding them together, and lead to loss of control. Bugger.
Seat don't fare any better, as three of their favourites - the Altea, Toledo and Leon - built between February 2004 and June 2005 are harbouring minor mechanical discrepancies. Ones which can spell HARM to those stupid enough to buy them in the first place. Well, the 1477 of you who purchased the 2.0 litre diesel engined 6-speed manual gearboxed models of the trio. As the manufacturer has found that something as trivial as the flywheel can become damaged by a clutch pressure pipe. Which in unfortunate circumstances (for those onboard at the time of burning) may lead to a small fire breaking out. Which, will turn pretty rapidly into a bigger show of flames.
Audi, who really shouldn't be in this detention, are left wanting on their December 2003 to June 2005 built A3's; which displays the same fault as the above-mentioned Seat stablemate. Although Seat was designed for poorer people, who weren't considered in the same risk category as Audis owners. Or at least that was what you were led to believe until informed that 8585 A3's have the potential to explode.
Moving on swiftly, and 9868 as-yet unfrightened drivers of Citroens C2, C3 and C3 Pluriel built between October and December 2005 could find themselves accelerating for longer than they necessarily planned on doing. That's because the French manufacturer has just discovered that the accelerator pedal may return to its rest position slower than they had envisaged. Roughly 2 days slower.
And finally Fiat, who lets face it with the Multipla are struggling for people wanting to buy it anyway, have informed 10,276 daft people that somehow managed to part with cash for it, that corrosive deposits from heavily salted road surfaces may lead to the front suspension spring breaking on all models constructed between May 1999 and December 2004. A bundle of laughs for their owners then.
Insureyourmotor.co.uk is always good for a laugh mind. At the expense of other motor insurers who aren't nearly as cheap as Insureyourmotor.co.uk are. Never have been. Never will be. Fact. Something I'm not usually very good at delivering. Insureyourmotor.co.uk - call today, and whatever stage of recall your motors at, Insureyourmotor.co.uk will insure it. Go on, promise.
